Good day Author,i would say u're talented..Its not just knowing what you do,but how you do them matters..I believe you passed through school.I wouldnt say pursuing ur dreams(if not in d school system) is bad but at least pass through an education system because education opens the inner eyes to the functionality of the physical eyes. For example a graduate that sells rice would package and sell his differently from someone that didnt go to school because their thinking faculty and problem solving skills are different..I hope you get what i mean..keep doing what u doing..holla back...cheers

Kunle, you would know a thing ot two about going to the Uni for something different from what you eventually end up doing.... lol
But seriously though, I completely agree with your take on re-structuring our education system to reflect our way of life. A lot of countries around the world are doing same. There are a lot of contemporary influences on the structure of education in schools accross the world and I am not just speaking about developed countries.
That said, we as a people need to appreciate the value of education as this goes beyond what certificate or even the class of your degree. It is gut -wrenchingly painful to hear the appalling diction and mastery of basic trends of some Nigerian graduates.
I believe we need a proper overhaul of our education system to include not just accademic and vocational paths but also imbibe life skills that ensure that whatever path you choose, you have all the neccesary mental preparation you need. I am not just speaking of mastery of the English language but also a sound understanding of local languages and culture (not to be confused with tradition).

I m not saying we all need to go to uni but we need a system where as soon as your are in secondary school you are mentally prepared enough to make a decision on what you 'd want to do with your life (including sports and showbiz) and there are actual guardian counsellors who would encourage and support you. Unlike a system that automatically lumps you into the science classes because you did so well in your JSCE and that whole unwritten rule of the 'most brilliant students should be in the science classes and the student at the other end of the spectrum should be in the commercial classes' is very destructive. .... I can go on but I think I have bored you enough

my broda ayeni, i must confess u r doing a very decent work and dis ur writeu up on B.SCor MTV? has really added enough courage on my person to pursue my dream. its really great to read dis stuff on a monday morning in d office. i have a dream of setting up an organisation which would reach d universe thru music, word and book. i have started already, by God's grace. as an OND holder, i keep recieving pressures from some folks arround me to go for my HND but i think, of what use would my HND be when already i have discovered who d creator created me to be? one thing i know is dat 'life is meaningless when reason for living is unknown'. i have discovered myself as a singer, writer and a motivational speaker and would be operating with my organisation named IMOORG INTERNATIONAL (Innerman Outreach Organisation). so rite now what am doing is saving up some money for myself to go for a fulll fledged music study. ayeni the great indeed, am most glad that u posted dis article infact u made my whole day great. thanks alot i will never forget u for dis one write up (B.SC OR MTV?). Permission to post dis on our church 'information board'. like i said earlier, i write and i do have some articles to dat effect, pls let me have ur contact E-MAIL ADDRESS so i could mail u my writeups here are my E-MAIL ADDRESSES; KJSINGSGOOD@YAHOO.COM, BEINGFULFILED@YAHOO.COM AND IMOORG@GMAIL.COM. i will be expecting ur reply, thanks lotsa!!! do not let d FIRE GO DOWN, KEEP IT BURNING BROS!

Article is long...but i get your point. BTW Dropping out does not make you a failure. You could become a failure even by going through uni when you miss the point of uni. NIgerians do not understand the whole concept of un. Its just another opportunity to cram theories and come out with the degreee and masters. Uni exists to develop your thought process and change you. Our cognitive styles are different. 9ice leaving JAMB to music signalled he was ready and believed in his ability and passion. Bill Gates dropping out of Harvard to start an over $60 billion company is a picture of his ability to think and passion. if you can think and you have the passion no one can stop you. SID and Kaha have excellent univeristy degrees and yet ended up in music. Your article is nice...long still

Hi Ayeni, I like ur style of writing, how u relate stories and make sense and meaning out of them. I enjoyed reading your write up... and the ideas you tried to project.

I sincerely believe our educational system should be reform and made to be, in tune with "our own generation"... it should be a way of life without making it very complex, and not in tune with what young people or children appreciate.

Our educational system should be designed to motivate and help young people develop themselves and do what they love to do even after school...
