Well, looks like Nigeria really rocks!! Its amazing that some of these artistes have been nominated alongside superstars like Rihanna, Akon, Lil Wayne…rather impressive and it will certainly give them massive expsosure. My concern with a lot of these nigerian acts is this: can their music stand the test of time? Secondly, its i the same Nigerian acts that seem to be nominated for the various awards. I talk abou this stuff a lot and its becoming increasingly easy to predict the nominees.
We need to have a couple of surprises…it will certainly give you something to write about….loooool Keep up the good work!!!

Hold on….while it is an impressive retinue of Nigerian artistes, where is TY Bello in all of this and 9ice is hip-hop? Come on MTV, you can do better.

I THINK the nominations are a bit off to be honest
didnt know 9ice was hip hop and we all know i feel him
buyt i guess the argument is each culture has its own hip hop
err… still not working for me
plus, not sure why if this is the MAMAS, we have so many foreign artistes in each category
why not have Best Foreign Act
not sure why africa always has to pander to the dictates of the Western World
and while we are at it
why is Trevor Nelson hosting?

Trevor Nelson is hosting because MTV thought he would do a brilliant job! THis is a big show to carry and Trevor is a brilliant and respected radio and tv broadcaster and well known champion of urban music whatever its origin. He has been associated with MTV for 10 years or more, and is a respected international DJ … He’s going to be a wicked host
